Position Overview: Marifah School is seeking a dynamic and experienced French Immersion Program Teacher to join our team. The French Immersion Program Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality French language instruction to students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, fostering bilingualism and academic excellence in a supportive Islamic environment.

Teacher Responsibilities:

  1. French Language Instruction:
    • Develop and implement engaging and interactive French language lessons aligned with the Ontario curriculum.
    • Facilitate language acquisition through a variety of teaching strategies, including immersive activities, games, and multimedia resources.
    • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to communicate confidently in French.
  2. Curriculum Planning and Assessment:
    • Design comprehensive unit plans and learning activities that promote language proficiency, vocabulary development, and cultural awareness.
    • Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to support student growth.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity and alignment across the French Immersion Program curriculum.
  3. Integration of Islamic Values:
    • Infuse Islamic values and principles into French language instruction, promoting character development, empathy, and respect for diversity.
    • Incorporate Islamic-themed literature, cultural traditions, and stories into French lessons to enrich students’ understanding of their faith and heritage.
  4. Differentiated Instruction:
    • Tailor instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and language proficiency levels of students in the French Immersion Program.
    • Provide additional support and accommodations for students requiring language support, ensuring equitable access to learning opportunities.
  5. Parental Engagement:
    • Communicate regularly with parents to share updates on students’ progress, learning goals, and areas for growth in French language proficiency.
    • Collaborate with parents to reinforce French language learning at home through recommended resources, activities, and language immersion opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or eligibility for certification.
  • Proficiency in French language (CEFR level B2 or higher).
  • Experience teaching French as a second language in a classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of French Immersion pedagogy and best practices.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to integrating Islamic values into teaching practice.
