Position Title: Supply Teacher  – Kindergarten – Full-time / Occasional
Reports to: Principal

Teacher Responsibilities:

  1. Holistic Early Childhood Education:
    • Develop and implement age-appropriate and engaging lesson plans aligned with the Ontario curriculum for Kindergarten.
    • Create a warm, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  2. Islamic Values Integration:
    • Infuse Islamic teachings seamlessly into daily activities, fostering a foundation of Islamic values among young learners.
    • Organize and participate in Islamic and cultural activities tailored to Kindergarten students.
  3. Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
    • Assess and monitor the progress of young learners using developmentally appropriate methods.
    • Provide regular feedback to parents regarding their child’s development.
  4. Social and Emotional Development:
    • Foster social and emotional development through play-based learning and group activities.
    • Promote positive interactions and cooperation among Kindergarten students.
  5. Parental Communication:
    • Establish effective communication with parents, including regular updates on student progress and development.
    • Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss individual student growth.
  6. Classroom Management:
    • Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.
    • Implement effective behavior management strategies suitable for young children.
  7. Cultural and Religious Celebrations:
    • Plan and participate in cultural and religious celebrations to introduce young learners to Islamic and diverse cultures.
  8. Professional Development:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with early childhood education best practices.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience for Kindergarten students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a relevant field.
  • OCT certification (preferred).
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum for Kindergarten
  • 5 years’ experience teaching in elementary schools in Canada or at International Schools
  • Proven experience in creating a positive and engaging learning environment for young children.
  • Professional and respectful attitude with parents, colleagues and administration
  • Evidence of sensitivity and respect for others and a willingness to work within cultural boundaries.
  • Experience developing curriculum
  • Professional learning community (PLC) knowledge and background preferred.
  • Proven experience in programming for students of all abilities, interests, and learning styles.
  • Proficient in English language (oral and written). Fluency additionally in Arabic and/or French is preferred
  • Strong communication both oral and written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to be part of a collaborative educational team.
  • In-depth understanding and commitment to Islamic values.
  • Recent criminal background check, including a vulnerable sector search (VSS).
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
