Position Title: Supply Teacher  – Islamic Studies, French, Arabic  – Full-time / Occasional
Reports to: Principal

Teacher Responsibilities:

  1. Islamic Studies Instruction:
    • Develop and deliver engaging Islamic Studies lessons aligned with Islamic principles.
    • Foster a deep understanding and appreciation of Islamic values and ethics.
  2. French Language Instruction:
    • Plan and implement French language lessons that align with curriculum standards.
    • Promote language proficiency through immersive and interactive teaching methods.
  3. Arabic Language Instruction:
    • Provide instruction in the Arabic language, incorporating language skills, grammar, and cultural aspects.
    • Utilize effective strategies to make learning Arabic engaging and accessible for students.
  4. Curriculum Development:
    • Contribute to the development and refinement of curriculum materials for Islamic Studies, French, and Arabic.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-disciplinary themes where applicable.
  5. Student Assessment and Feedback:
    • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their academic development.
    • Implement a variety of assessment strategies to address diverse learning styles.
  6. Classroom Management:
    • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
    • Manage classroom behavior in line with Marifah School’s values and expectations.
  7. Cultural and Religious Celebrations:
    • Plan and participate in cultural and religious celebrations to enrich students’ understanding of Islamic and Arabic cultures.
  8. Professional Development:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in language and religious instruction.
    • Participate in collaborative initiatives with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field.
  • OCT certification (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Arabic and French languages.
  • 5 years’ experience teaching in elementary schools in Canada or at International Schools
  • Proven experience in creating a positive and engaging learning environment for young children.
  • Professional and respectful attitude with parents, colleagues and administration
  • Evidence of sensitivity and respect for others and a willingness to work within cultural boundaries.
  • Experience developing curriculum
  • Professional learning community (PLC) knowledge and background preferred.
  • Proven experience in programming for students of all abilities, interests, and learning styles.
  • Proficient in English language (oral and written). Fluency additionally in Arabic and/or French is preferred
  • Strong communication both oral and written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to be part of a collaborative educational team.
  • In-depth understanding and commitment to Islamic values.
  • Recent criminal background check, including a vulnerable sector search (VSS).
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
