Position Overview
Marifah School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Quran Teacher to join our team. This position is not a facilitator role for Quran memorization, but rather a teaching position focused on guiding young students through the Nooraniyah methodology to develop their foundational Arabic reading skills, proper pronunciation, and fluency in Quranic recitation. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of Tajweed rules and a passion for nurturing students at various levels, from recognizing Arabic letters to reading the Quran with proficiency.
Teacher Responsibilities
Quran Reading and Recitation Instruction
- Teach students Quranic reading and pronunciation using the Nooraniyah methodology to build a strong foundation.
- Develop individualized learning plans for students at different skill levels, from beginners learning Arabic letters to advanced readers.
- Provide structured lessons on Makharij (articulation points) and Sifaat (characteristics of letters) to ensure proper pronunciation.
- Conduct regular assessments to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Tajweed and Fluency Development
- Teach Tajweed rules systematically to help students achieve correct and melodious recitation.
- Reinforce Quranic fluency through repetitive practice, listening exercises, and guided reading sessions.
- Organize Tajweed workshops and practice sessions to enhance students’ recitation skills.
Quran Memorization Support
- Introduce memorization of short Surahs (Juz Amma) for beginners alongside reading lessons.
- Encourage students to recite daily supplications and shorter Quranic verses to build confidence and familiarity.
Islamic Character Development
- Serve as a role model of Islamic ethics and values for students.
- Foster a love and respect for the Quran by sharing stories, reflections, and lessons from the Quran.
- Encourage students to apply Islamic teachings in their daily lives, emphasizing akhlaq (good manners) and adab (proper etiquette).
Parental Engagement
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding their child’s progress and areas for improvement.
- Provide guidance to parents on reinforcing Quranic learning at home through structured practice.
- Organize parent-teacher meetings and workshops to discuss students’ learning development and goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Certification in Nooraniyah, Qaida Baghdadi, or equivalent structured Quranic reading methodology.
- Strong understanding of Tajweed rules and Quranic recitation.
- Prior experience teaching Quran reading and recitation to young children at varying levels.
- Proficiency in classroom management and engaging young learners in interactive lessons.
- Fluency in English and Arabic (reading and pronunciation).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive, encouraging, and structured learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal Islamic education or coursework in Quranic studies.
- Ijazah in Quran recitation and Tajweed (preferred but not required).
- Experience teaching Quranic studies in a school or structured program.
