Beginning next academic year, Marifah School is launching a new French Immersion with Arabic Fluency Path, starting with JK and SK, with plans to grow the program in future years.
This innovative program aims to help students develop:
- Strong French language proficiency through immersion learning
- Arabic literacy and communication skills through daily instruction
- English language mastery
The long-term goal is to graduate students who are confidently multilingual and culturally grounded.
Position Overview
Marifah School is seeking a passionate and experienced French Immersion Teacher to join our growing team.
The successful candidate will help lead the French Immersion with Arabic Fluency Path for our early years program (Preschool / JK / SK). The teacher will deliver engaging learning experiences primarily in French, while supporting the development of Arabic language exposure and appreciation within an Islamic learning environment.
The ideal candidate is:
- Fluent in French
- Comfortable with Arabic language and culture
- Experienced with early childhood education
- Passionate about language immersion pedagogy
- Enthusiastic about working in an Islamic school environment
Key Responsibilities
French Immersion Instruction
- Deliver engaging and interactive French immersion instruction aligned with early learning and Ontario curriculum expectations.
- Use immersion techniques that promote natural language acquisition through play, storytelling, songs, and conversation.
- Create a classroom environment where French is the primary language of communication.
Early Childhood Learning
- Develop age-appropriate learning activities for Preschool, JK, and SK students.
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and language development.
- Foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young learners.
Arabic Language Development
- Support the program’s Arabic Fluency Path by integrating Arabic exposure through:
- basic vocabulary
- songs and stories
- Islamic expressions
- collaboration with Arabic/Quran teachers
- Encourage appreciation for Arabic language as the language of the Quran and Islamic tradition.
Curriculum Planning
- Develop lesson plans, learning centers, and activities aligned with program goals.
- Incorporate hands-on learning, play-based learning, and inquiry-based approaches.
- Ensure learning activities promote language immersion and bilingual development.
Assessment and Student Support
- Monitor and document student progress in language development and early literacy.
- Use informal and formative assessments appropriate for early learners.
- Provide individualized support where needed.
Integration of Islamic Values
- Incorporate Islamic values, manners, and character development within daily learning.
- Support students in learning duas, Islamic etiquette, and moral values.
- Foster a classroom culture of respect, kindness, and responsibility.
Parent Communication
- Maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians.
- Provide regular updates on student learning and language development.
- Encourage families to support French and Arabic exposure at home.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, Arabic/Quran instructors, and school leadership.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the French Immersion with Arabic Fluency Path program.
- Participate in school meetings, events, and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field
- Fluent in French (spoken and written)
- Experience teaching French Immersion or French as a Second Language
- Experience working with Preschool / Kindergarten aged children
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to create an engaging and nurturing learning environment
- Commitment to working within an Islamic values-based school
Preferred Qualifications
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or eligibility
- ECE (Early Childhood Educator) certification
- Native or near-native French speaker
- Arabic language proficiency (spoken and/or written)
- Experience with Montessori or play-based early learning approaches
- Experience in immersion or bilingual education programs
- Familiarity with Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum
