About the Program

Islam Essentials is a multi-year comprehensive Islamic Studies diploma program designed for youth and adults (ages 12 and up). Whether you’re starting your journey or seeking to reconnect and strengthen your understanding, this course takes you from foundational principles to advanced subjects over time.

Structured across four years, students will gradually build up their Islamic knowledge in an organized and engaging way under the guidance of qualified teachers and scholars.

Program Format

  • Schedule: Sundays, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Location: Marifah Learning Center (1586 Stittsville Main St.)
  • Format: In-person weekly classes with supplemental online support

 What You Will Learn

Students will progress through a thoughtfully designed curriculum that includes:

  • Aqidah (Beliefs): Core Islamic creed and articles of faith
  • Fiqh (Jurisprudence): Practical rulings and worship laws
  • Tafsir (Qur’anic Commentary): Themes and interpretations of select Surahs
  • Seerah (Life of the Prophet ﷺ): Chronological study of the Prophet’s ﷺ life and lessons
  • Hadith Studies: Practical Hadith and understanding Sunnah
  • Akhlaq & Adab: Islamic character and etiquette
  • Qasas al-Anbiya (Stories of the Prophets): Lessons from the lives of the prophets
  • Khulafa al-Rashideen: Guided leadership and legacy of the Rightly Guided Caliphs
  • Contemporary Issues: Navigating life as a Muslim in today’s world

Certification

  • Year 2 Completion: Certificate in Islamic Essentials
  • Year 4 Completion: Advanced Diploma in Islamic Studies
    All certificates are issued by Marifah Learning, endorsed by local scholars and educators.
