Marifah High School Learning Support Program

Our Vision

At Marifah School, we are dedicated to nurturing confident, faith-guided Muslim youth who can excel in both dunya and deen. Through our High School Learning Support Program, students earn Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credits through Ministry-approved online learning platforms, while physically attending Marifah School daily to benefit from a structured, supportive, and spiritually enriching Islamic environment.

This model offers families the best of both worlds — the academic flexibility of online learning combined with the consistent presence of daily in-person Islamic education and character development.

 What We Offer

    • On-site attendance for high school students (Grades 9–12)
    • Flexible academic learning via Ministry-approved asynchronous or synchronous eLearning providers
    • Daily Islamic curriculum: Quran recitation and memorization, Hadith, Tafseer, Islamic Studies, Duas, and more
    • Academic coaching and mentorship from caring Marifah staff
    • An Islamic social environment with like-minded peers
    • Congregational prayers, assemblies, and community-building programs
    • Regular monitoring of student progress and academic support sessions

Academic Pathways: Synchronous vs. Asynchronous Learning

Synchronous Learning (Live Online Classes)

Students attend scheduled, live classes offered by certified teachers from Public or Private Ministry-inspected online high schools.

Best suited for:

  • Students who benefit from structured routines and real-time instruction
  • Those who prefer group learning and interaction
  • Teens who thrive with external accountability and daily pacing
Asynchronous Learning (Self-Paced Courses)

Students work independently on their courses using curated online platforms, progressing at their own pace while still meeting deadlines.

Best suited for:

  • Self-motivated, independent learners
  • Students who need flexibility in scheduling
  • Families with unique learning needs or goals

How Marifah Supports Your Child

While OSSD credits are completed through accredited third-party institutions, Marifah plays a vital role in ensuring your child succeeds holistically:

  • Daily schedule and attendance at Marifah
  • Time set aside for focused academic work
  • On-site support and encouragement from caring staff
  • Supervised quiet study areas
  • Daily reminders and monitoring of online course progress
  • Islamic instruction integrated into the daily timetable
  • Moral and character building woven into the school culture

Choosing the Right Pathway

Every student is unique. At Marifah, we partner with families to help choose the most suitable program based on:

  • Learning habits and academic skills
  • Career goals and subject interests
  • Need for flexibility or routine
  • Independent vs. group learning preferences
  • Parent and student feedback
  • Guidance counselor consultations (either with your local school or Marifah support staff)

📌 Note: In some cases, a full-time, in-person high school may still be the best fit — particularly for students who require consistent teacher interaction, have difficulty with technology, or benefit from more structured environments.

OSSD Credit Providers

Families register their children for online OSSD credit courses independently. These can be accessed via:

  • Public school board virtual programs (e.g., OCDSB, OCSB)
  • Ministry-inspected private high schools
  • Ministry-approved eLearning platforms

Some options are free (through local school boards), while others are paid (private online high schools). We assist you with navigating your choices, but course selection, registration, and fees are handled by families directly.
